Revisiting the Case of Gail Cutro
Along with the video The State newspaper shot to kick off the coverage of my book, which examined a murder case against a woman who ran a family day care, the paper also ran an article about In Good Hands that appeared the same day.
What particularly pleased me about the newspaper’s coverage is that it managed to capture the dual focus of my book. The video had given me a chance to talk about the lessons parents should learn about keeping their children in day care safe. The newspaper article examined how I happened to stumble on the criminal trail of Gail Cutro, and what I learned from my own investigation of the case.
The story has held my interest for a very long time–through three criminal trials and beyond. The lessons are clearer to me now than ever, and apply not only to parents seeking to safeguard young children but to anyone placing vulnerable individuals (like the elderly or people with disabilities) in care.
